   4           tcping does a TCP connect to the given ip/port
   5           combination. The user can specify a timeout in seconds. This
   6           is useful in shell scripts running in firewalled
   7           environments. Often SYNs are just being dropped by
   8           firewalls, thus connection establishment will be retried
   9           several times (for minutes) until a TCP timeout is
  10           reached. With tcping it is possible to check first if the
  11           desired port is reachable and then start connection
  12           establishment.
